There is an old saying among mother's. "If you don't take care of yourself, you won't be able to take care of anyone else." This is very true of not only mothers but anyone in a caregiver role. Taking care of multiple infants and toddlers can be very demanding and challenging. I need to take time off to recharge my battery, fend off burnout, to keep from getting cabin fever, and to maintain the quality of care I provide. The daycare's vacations are taken unpaid but holidays and personal days are paid. If a holiday falls on a Saturday, I take off the Friday before and if the holiday falls on a Sunday, I take off the Monday after. "unpaid" is written next to all the unpaid closings. It is the responsibility of the parents to find alternative care when the daycare is closed.
