My name is Donna Harper. I am the director of Doodlebug Daycare LLC.
Why did I choose to do this as a profession? Like everyone else, I work to financially support my family. The reason I chose this career over everything else is my heart for children. I love watching them grow and learn. An infant goes from not even being able to hold it's head up to walking in about a year. Children are truly miracles! And I love it. This job offers no medical benefits but I get hugs; no dental benefits but I get smiles; no retirement benefits, but I get singing and laughter. I consider myself extremely lucky to do what I love and love what I do.
I have been married for 21 wonderful years. Our anniversary is on Groundhog's Day. The most romantic holiday of the year (LOL).
My husband and my daughter are substitute caregivers for the daycare. Both have OSBI background checks and have cpr/first aid training.
We have 3 children of our own. Ages 20, 17, and 13.
Allergy Warning: We have 1 free roaming cat, and 3 dogs (Kept inside but separate from the daycare by baby gates). The cat and dogs do occasionally come into contact with the children. All our pets are friendly. The dogs are also gated from the front door. Our dogs are small boston terriers weighing about 16 lbs, and my daughter's corgi. They love people and attention! All are spayed, current on their rabies shots, and kept on flea/tick preventive.
I opened my licensed home daycare in November 2001.
I earned my first associate degree in early childhood education online from California College for Health Sciences in 2003.
I earned my second associate degree in childhood development from Redlands Community College located in El Reno, Oklahoma in 2007.
I attend CPR training annually and take 20+ hours of continuing education in the childcare field per year.
